About Us

THE CONCEPT

Arclight Ivy is a  woman owned, 10-free, and vegan traditional nail lacquer brand with anything but traditional finishes. I take inspiration from folklore, mythology and urban legends to create uniquely glowy special effect nail polishes you won’t find at your local drugstore. Each bottle of our specialty polishes holds 13ml of handcrafted lacquer, hand mixed and formulated by myself. We have full transparency on our ingredient lists for each and every polish we make so you can have assurance on what exactly is going on your nails.

iNTENTIONAL aRT

Dig a little deeper and discover there’s more to the inspiration behind our polishes than what meets the eye. Arclight Ivy is a multimedia art project full of wildly whimsical and unexpected writing, art and media all made exclusively by human hands. As a lifelong artist and professional creative, I’m 100% committed to maintaining an AI free brand that prioritizes original art and giving credit where credit is due.

Nice to Meet You

For the love of polish!

Hi! I’m Sophia and I created Arclight Ivy out of a love for all things nail lacquer and a passion for art. I’ve always been a fan of nail polish since a young age and have so many vivid memories from childhood doing my nails with my mom. Into the 2010s as a teen I started exploring nail art and generally art as a hobby. Into my college years pursing art on a professional level as a graphic designer, I found myself painting my nails every single night as a way to combat my issues with dermatillomania. I additionally discovered how relaxing and calming taking those moments for myself in the evening could be to help calm my busy mind and be able to just focus on a little task. That little habit would follow me into adulthood as I navigated a new world of adult responsibilities, my professional career, marriage and motherhood.

Discovering Indie Polish & Mixing

In 2022, after falling into an internet rabbit hole about cosmetics production (already being a fan of many indie cosmetics creators and having branched into a few boutique lacquer brands), I came across some nail polish making supplies on a cosmetic supply website. I figured it would be fun and easy to try and make some polishes myself. To say the least, those first couple nail lacquers were terrible and made with very little education and research. The supplies went into my closet to be forgotten about for a while, and I found myself entering into the world of indie polish as a consumer, not a creator.

Flash forward a year later, I’d become fully infatuated with glowy indie lacquers and started actively contributing to the community. I loved the comrodery of it all- how so many people genuinly wanted to help each other and share in their mutual love of shimmery, shiny bottles of magic. Getting to explore more unique finishes from a wide variety of brands inspired me to give the whole polish mixing thing another shot. I’d become a new mom in that timeframe and gave up working full time and was feeling the effects of the new budget constraints. I figured making my own polish could be a way to still enjoy my hobby while saving some money (spoiler warning: polish mixing is just another expensive hobby!) I pulled back out my supplies, ordered some new ingredients and set to work slowly learning and bettering my techniques over the next few years.

THE CONCEPTION OF ARCLIGHT IVY

In 2025, after a few years of mixing for my own personal collection, I discovered I truly had a love for the art of mixing lacquers, not just the ability to create polish for myself. That’s what spurred on the idea to create Arclight Ivy. I was a stay at mom and freelancer but felt that I had a creative vision I wanted to share beyond the confines of my own little closet collection. I’d done the corporate creative gig for so long, the opportunity to create without confines felt massively freeing and a healthy motivating goal for my little AdHd brain. I wanted to create a brand that allowed me to apply all my creative skills and passions through storytelling, visual media and of course, shiny shifty nails. And that’s the hope I have for taking this risk on a dream, that others can find joy and maybe a bit of escapism in the art and that it could be a sustainable creative outlet to pour my heart into.

So thanks for being a part of this crazy journey and being a part of supporting the art, whether you’re just stopping by to window shop, purchasing polish or following our socials. The amount of love I’ve received already in this journey has been truly inspiring and has reshaped how I see myself and my potential to follow my dreams.
